Why isn't my Help file working?

VectorWorks Help Files

The VectorWorks help files are written in web technologies and must be viewed in a web browser.

You do not need to be connected to the Internet to view these files, they are stored locally on your computer.

Web Browser Bugs

Apple's Safari web browser and AOL's AOL Explorer web browser contain bugs that do not display the help files correctly.

If you are using either of these browsers and are having trouble viewing the help files, please download a copy of the web browser Firefox from http://www.getfirefox.com.

Using Firefox to View the Help Files

When using Firefox to view the help files, you have two options. The first is to set Firefox as your computer's default web browser.  Firefox will ask if you would like to make it the default browser when you first launch the application, choose YES.

If you'd prefer to not use Firefox as your default browser, but need to use it to view the help files, take the following steps:

  1. In Vectorworks, go to Help > Vectorworks Help.
  2. Copy the text in the Address/Location bar of the browser (this should start with the word file not http:// or www)
  3. Launch Firefox.
  4. Paste the text into Firefox's address bar and press enter.
