When placing plants in a planting plan using the VectorWorks Landmark Plant tool, you may want to use custom 3D symbols or even image props. Image props are a quick way to enhance a 3D model by adding graphic elements to a 3D plan without the need to create the 3D symbols. Let's walk through the steps to add plant image props included in VectorWorks Landmark with RenderWorks.

Let's first add the xFrog plant image prop library files to the Favorites List of the Resource Browser. To do this, click on the arrow to the right of the "Files and Folders" at the top of the Resource Browser and select "Add New Favorite File".

Browse to the VectorWorks 12.x folder>Libraries>Objects-xFrog. Select all of the files, or at least the library files with the 3D symbols you'd like to use, and click OK.

Once the files are loaded into the Favorites list of the Resource Browser, select one of the xFrog library files from the second drop down box.

Next, open the Plant tool default library file using File>Open. This file is located in the VectorWorks 12.x folder>Libraries>Defaults. Open the file named "Plants-3D Symbols".

When this file is open, the drawing area will appear blank. However, the file is not empty; all the 3D plant symbols are listed as Resources in this file in the Resource Browser.

Go back to the Resource Browser and select the xFrog image prop symbols you'd like to use with the plant tool. You can select multiple symbols by holding down the shift key and clicking on the items to be selected. Right click on one of the symbols and select Import.

This imports the symbols into the Plants-3D Symbols file. This file is used as the reference to pull the 3D symbols to be used in conjunction with the Plant tool. Repeat the process for any additional xFrog symbols in the library files you'd like to be available in the 3D mode of the plant tool.

Once all the desired symbols have been imported, save the Plants-3D Symbols file and close the file. When the plant tool is next used, all the newly imported symbols will be available in the 3D portion of the plant tool.
