1) Choose preferred layer scale in the import dialog box (1:1000 or similar, depending on page size). Import. Hide Guides. Select all. Fit to objects.

2) In AutoCAD, select all objects of interest and type the wblock command. This will write a block as a new file containing only those objects. The invisible objects causing the problems will be skipped.
