Tech Bulletin: Crashes on importing and ungrouping PDF page objects in Vectorworks 2011 with Mac OS X 10.6 (Snow Leopard)

If you are experiencing crashes when trying to import or ungroup PDF files within Vectorworks on the Mac, you may need to update your Vectorworks PDF libraries. To accomplish this:

1. Download the new versions of the libraries from: Click Here

2. Unzip the downloaded file

3. Go to the Vectorworks 2011 folder

4. Ctrl-click (or right-click) on the Vectorworks 2011 application and choose “Compress Vectorworks 2011”. This will create an archive of the original application that can be unzipped if needed later.

5. Ctrl-click (or right-click) on the Vectorworks 2011 application and choose “Show Package Contents” from the contextual menu

6. Double-click on the Contents folder and then the Frameworks folder

7. Copy the folders from the unzipped downloaded file into the Frameworks folder, overwriting the existing files and folders.

Regarding the new PDF libraries:

Please note that these libraries have not received the usually high level of testing that most of our other publically distributed products receive. While we have performed a moderate level of testing and are aware of no problems with these new libraries, please keep the compressed Vectorworks 2011 application handy and consider rolling back to it if you experience new PDF-related problems.

If you do not feel comfortable following this process on your own, please contact Technical Support at 443-542-0411 - Technical Support hours of operation are 9:00 – 5:00pm EST Monday-Friday
