Backing Up Vectorworks Preferences

Folder locations for Vectorworks User Preferences, choose your operating system:

Windows XP

Windows Vista and Windows 7

Mac OSX 10.5, 10.6 and 10.7

 

Windows XP

1) Once you have your desired preferences and workspace changes, quit Vectorworks.

2) Navigate to the  'settings' folder in 'My Computer > C: > Documents and Settings > (YourUsername) > Application Data > Nemetschek > Vectorworks'

3) Copy the folder named the same as the version of Vectorworks you are using. (For example in Vectorworks 2011, the folder is simply named "2011")

4) Save this folder somewhere safe, for your future use.
 



Windows Vista and Windows 7

1) Once you have your desired preferences and workspace changes, quit Vectorworks.

2) Navigate to the  'settings' folder in 'My Computer > C: > Users > (YourUsername) > AppData > Roaming > Nemetschek > Vectorworks'

This file is hidden by default. Press the 'Alt' key on your keyboard to get the 'Organize' menu then go to: Organize > Folder and Search Options > View , and check the box that reads “Show Hidden Files and Folders.”



3) Copy the folder named the same as the version of Vectorworks you are using. (For example in Vectorworks 2011, the folder is simply named "2011")

4) Save this folder somewhere safe, for your future use.
 


Mac OSX 10.5 & OSX 10.6 & OSX 10.7

NOTE: On Mac OSX 10.7, the Library folder for your User account is hidden. The easiest way to display it is to open Finder, then hold down the alt/option key on your keyboard while clicking "Go" from  the menu bar, then select "Library"

1) Once you have your desired preferences and workspace changes, quit Vectorworks.

2) Navigate to the  'settings' folder in 'Mac OSX > Users > (YourUsername) > Library >Application Support >  Vectorworks'

3) Copy the folder named the same as the version of Vectorworks you are using. (For example in Vectorworks 2011, the folder is simply named "2011")

4) Save this folder somewhere safe, for your future use.


To replace existing preferences in these locations with a backed up version, simply rename the existing folder found in the above locations to "2011-OLD" (Or 2009-OLD, 2010-OLD, whichever version you are working with), then paste a copy of the backed up folder directly within the "Vectorworks" folder.
